Why Settle for a Standing Desk When You Could Have This Giant Hamster Wheel?

Do you like the modern sensibility of a standing desk but wish it also served as a constant reminder of your work life’s soul-crushing drudgery? Well then I’ve got good news.

This 80-inch-diameter Hamster Wheel Standing Desk, invented by two guys (artist Robb Godshaw and developer Will Doenlen) at 3D software company Autodesk, is questionably necessary in a world where we already have treadmill desks. But it’s also pretty awesome.

The whole project is clearly tongue-in-cheek, as you can tell from the description on Instructables.com, where you’ll also find all the directions to make one yourself.

“Rise up, sedentary sentients, and unleash that untapped potential within by marching endlessly towards a brilliant future of focused work. Step forward into a world of infinite potential, bounded only by the smooth arcs of a wheel. Step forward into the Hamster Wheel Standing Desk that will usher in a new era of unprecedented productivity.”

The official video seems a bit languid for my tastes, but as you can see in the time-lapse below, this productivity wheel can handle some serious speed.

Devin SuperTramp Creates a 260-Foot Water Slide Down a San Francisco Street

YouTube influencer Devin SuperTramp is a man who knows how to get what he wants. And in this case, he wants to ride a 260-foot water slide down the streets of San Francisco.

The video for Bear Naked Granola, with more than 600,000 views in its first few days online, is basically two-and-a-half minutes of young people screeching and squealing as they slosh down the steep track on inflatable rafts, boogie-boards, various rubber sea creatures and, in some cases, their bare bellies.

(I’m sure the locals who spend a zillion dollars for their shoebox-size garden apartments were just thrilled with all the brand-fueled water tomfoolery.)

Street surfing is rapidly becoming a thing. Last year, an artist turned a boulevard in Bristol, England, into a 300-foot water slide to highlight the intricacies and costs of urban planning, because, clearly, only a giant water slide could communicate those complex points.

Check out a behind-the-scenes video below to see the equipment, logistics and rapid jumping reflexes required to pull off a shoot like this.

Anonymous Donor Buys Thank-You Billboard for Batkid

Just in case you thought the San Francisco Batkid story couldn't get any cuter, a mysterious billboard near the Bay Bridge is thanking the miniature hero, better known as 5-year-old leukemia patient Miles Scott, for keeping the city safe. Whoever paid for this thing employed some Bruce Wayne-level secrecy, because it surprised the Make-A-Wish Foundation—who helped turn San Francisco into Gotham City for young Miles—as much as everyone else. Batkid has turned into quite the donations magnet for Make-A-Wish, which is great and all, but gestures like this sign also offer a lot of value by keeping this story fresh in people's minds.

Empty America mostra cidades norte-americanas vazias
